Social Media

I have a strong social media presence. There’s no way of saying that without it sounding awful. I do think that social media sites such as Twitter and Tumblr are incredibly important tools that are changing the way we do research, and the way the rest of the world sees and interacts with that research.

These Storify links showcase a few instances in which I’ve used Twitter to make ostensibly dry topics FUN by shouting LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS THING:

The Anglo-Saxon Penitentials
Medieval Medicine
Nineteenth-Century Cornish Dialect Words
My Historical Valentine

#Twitterstorians

With Mathew Lyons, I organise the Twitterstorians Meetups, semi-regular informal networking (drinking and chatting) events for historians on Twitter, which are well attended by historians from all backgrounds. Please contact either me or Mathew on Twitter for more details.
